Photographs of images at
the New York State Historical Association may be
obtained from two places. Images from art works
in the Fenimore Art Museum collection are
obtained through the
Registrar.
This would include photos from photograph
collections owned by our museums.
A major photo collection owned by our Fenimore
Art Museum is the Smith-Telfer Collection - the
work of two Cooperstown photographers spanning
more than a century. Many of the images from the
Smith & Telfer Collection can be viewed by

Photographs from the local history files or any
others from our library's collection are
accessed through the library.
Upon request, we can mail out schedules of
photographic service charges - study/lecture or
publication - and permission to publish forms.
Basically our charges for having our
photographer make black and white photos are:
- An 8x10 b&w print for personal or research use -
$20 ($60 if no negative exists)
- An 8x10 b&w print for publication in a book -
$65 (A permission to publish form would also
have to be completed.)
You are welcome to visit our facility to look at
any of our materials with images. The library is
open Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. year
round. Special Collections is open by
appointment. The photos in our museum's
collection may be seen upon appointment
