We invite our members and their guests to attend our Annual Meeting each July. The one hundred and eighth Annual Meeting will be held on July 14, 2011 at the Louis C. Jones Center at The Farmers' Museum beginning at 4:00 p.m. A reception will follow.
David Stradling, Professor and Graduate Studies Director at the University of Cincinnati and author of "The Nature of New York : An Environmental History of the Empire State" will address the members. His remarks, titled “We are Still in Eden: New York State and the Ideal Landscape,” addresses how the New York landscape influenced American ideas about nature and the nation. There is no better place than on the shores of the Glimmerglass Lake to discuss how New York’s landscape shaped American cultural history.
The annual meeting will also reveal the winners of The Paul S. Kerr History Prize, The Dixon Ryan Fox Manuscript Prize, and The Henry Allen Moe Prize for Catalogs of Distinction in the Arts. Docents will be available to guide visitors through the Fenimore Art Museum and the 2011 feature exhibitions between 2:00 and 4:00 pm. To RSVP for the Annual Meeting, please contact Caitlin Miosek at (607) 547-1416 or email.
We are grateful to all who attend and especially appreciate the on-going support of the Fenimore Society and Pioneer Society members.
